# Customize the widget

> Match the chat widget to your brand: theme, colours, corners and text, with a live preview.

**Settings › Chat widget** controls how the widget looks on your website and who can load it. A live preview next to the settings shows every change as you make it.

## Show the widget

**Show the widget** turns the widget on or off on your website. Turn it off to hide it everywhere without removing the code.

## Theme & colours

* **Theme**: **Light**, **Dark**, or **Auto** to follow each visitor's system setting.
* **Widget color**: the widget's header.
* **Button color**: the button that opens the widget.

Pick a colour from the suggestions, enter a hex code, or use the eyedropper. **Reset to default** restores the default colour.

## Corner radius

Set the roundness of the **button** and of the **widget** itself, from square to fully rounded.

## Text

* **Button text**: the label on the button that opens the widget.
* **Welcome message** and **Welcome description**: what visitors read when they open the widget.

Each field shows how many characters you have left.

## Tabs & footer

The widget always shows its **Home** and **Messages** tabs and its footer.

## Access by IP

Control which visitor IP addresses can load the widget on your site. Previews in the dashboard aren't affected.

| Mode | Who can load the widget |
| - | - |
| **Off** | Any visitor. |
| **Allowlist** | Only the IP addresses and CIDR ranges you list (for example `203.0.113.0/24`). |
| **Blocklist** | Everyone except the IP addresses and CIDR ranges you list. |

>
> Use an allowlist to test the widget on your live site before you open it to everyone: list your office IP, check it, then switch back to **Off**.

Click **Save** at the top of the page to publish your changes to the widget.
